As a few folks know, my chain broke towards the end of Ron's Fixed-Gear Ride
a couple weekends ago.

Since the Quickbeam was in fixed-gear mode, it dropped to the pavement and
then wrapped itself quickly around the rear sprocket. Not something I'd
encountered before - either in terms of breakage or result - but with a few
years of riding fixed, that's the first time for either.

I hit the brakes quickly, but the chain looped around and jammed up the rear
wheel. I had to lead it out and give a good tug on the chain as I turned
the wheel backwards.

Finally had the gumption to scrub it down and take a look at the damage last
night. It's definitely got some gouges, but I just wanted to publicly thank
Grant for spec'ing the thick-n-meaty steel dropouts on the Quickbeam.

Not pretty, but plenty left to play with.

Since I was going over the frame in minute detail, I snapped some more
photos of the general condition after being ridden pretty regularly for a
few years.

(I know the topic has come up a couple of times - there's a pretty good
image of chainring/chainstay/chainring bolt/bb lug clearance.)
