I haven't seen a lot of the early bikes,  but if I were bidding on this, I'd
look for some better documentation than appears in his description and
answers to the questions.

I'm sure there have been some derivations over the years, but I would tend
to think that would be by specific special order, which would, in turn tend
to be recalled.  

For comparison, here's some detail from Bill's Rivendell Road from '95 - one
of the earlier specimens I've seen -

Simple lugs, Henry James crown, granted it is a small frame, but nothing on
this bike says Riv to me accept the decals and badge, even the water bottle
bosses seam oddly placed.
