Lighter blue AHHs are made by Waterford. Darker blue ones were made by Toyo and I think once they run out of those (if they haven't already) only the lighter Waterford bkue will be available.
I saw both in person when I bought mine last year and without a doubt went for the lighter Waterford option. At first, I was sort of dissapointed on both but found the darker one duller. Incredibly, the more I rode it, the more I found myself being captivated by its magic. Hard to describe, but a very strong feeling. Then I got my Bombadil and went with a custom dark green. The reverse effect happened; the more I rode it, the less magical it seemed. My conclusion is that it was too dark. I think darker colors have more initial "impact" but it's the lighter subtler colors that develop that magical feeling. Now that I'm returning the Bombadil (the recommended size turned out to be too big) and getting an Atlantis instead, after a brief moment of hesitation I went for the stock color. It's had the same effect as the AHH lighter blue... keeps growing more and more on me. The Toyo blue, while also beautiful like my dark green, somewhat doesn't seem to have the same effect on me. IMHO. Whichever you end up choosing, it's going to be a personal choice. Choose the one that you want!
