Isaak, In my experience, the flex/motion that you describe has a negative effect on braking power. My situation didn't involve a Riv, but I did shorten/flatten the arc of the housing a bit so that the hanger and cable would be more in line with the brakes. That helped a bit, but I eventually switched to mini-motos.
