It's worth noting for anyone wanting to test the general gist of Ron's Ortho bars without the price or hassle of tracking them down - I can say from experience that the widest Toscos sold by Rivendell (the 65cm, 38.1 version) are very, very similar to Ron's Ortho bars. Aside from the clamp diameter (you'd need a 38.1 faceplate stem), weight, and flex... but if you were looking to get a nearly identical riding position and width, Toscos would get you there.
I put Orthos on my Gus for a few months, but found them to be a bit too flexy for rougher trail riding. I swapped back to my Toscos after a few rides on mtn bike trails. I'm keeping them though, because I may use them on a future build. If you love crust orthos, you can have Doom make you a modified copy that will fit your Sam they can bump them forward 30mm or so. I have a scaled up version of an Albatross on one of my bikes and it’s fantastic. I was feeling indulgent with myself and I had them made in titanium. I have an exact steel replica of an Ortho on my Gus, but with that frame there aren’t any fit issues. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
