I haven't used the new shape Ergo levers; I have the old shape, like these:
http://www.excelsports.com/new.asp?page=8&description=Veloce+10+Ergopower+Levers&vendorCode=CAMP&major=1&minor=20 A few years ago, the (lower grade) Veloce were essentially the same as Centaur (higher), as far as the innards go; the only thing different was the shape of the shift blade, which reduced the weight by like 5 grams. I don't know what the difference is between Veloce and Centaur in the new hood shape, other than one has resin blades and the other carbon blades. But as Michael said above, the Centaur also come with alloy levers: http://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=25206&category=771 If you're doing CX where there's a risk of taking a digger, the alloy might stand up better in a spill than carbon.
