After I actually read the thing ... Moving legs, not stationary torso --
big difference! Likewise, blinkies and not steady lights. I've read similar
things elsewhere, for example about lights mounted on the legs, which
apparently are more noticeable to drivers than lights mounted on the bike.

I installed reflective "dots" on the cranks of my errand bike, and make
reflective ankle bands a regular piece of night time kit.

During the day, I guess, from this study, the same principle holds.
