Complete opposite of a Kona Hot I built for myself BITD. It seemed like an
assertive road racer’s take on an off road bike, optimizing rider position for
long high output pedaling but not for terrain of much challenge.

That bike was tippy fore and aft on climbs out of the saddle like those you
describe and show yourself riding seated. I’d not had an off road bike that was
so oddly challenging at trail riding and it (and a couple of moves) snuffed my
interest for a good while. Trail riding shouldn’t be as hard as that bike made
it.

Selling that thing to a loving buyer funded my Rambouillet, which is a better
trail bike than most late NORBA geometry MTBs.
