Scott's story is an inspiration. He was profiled in a Rivendell Reader, also. And there was a short article which appeared at Bicycling.com. That Active.com article you referenced is a little out of date. He's since moved out to to Portland, has hit his 180 pound goal (and then some...), has unfortunately suspended the LFOAB blog, and twitters pretty steadily.
