When Shimano went to 10-speed on road and MTB, they kept the pull ratio the
same for road but changed it for MTB, so 10-speed road and MTB are not
compatible. If you're using a 10-speed Shimano road shifter and a 10-speed
Shimano MTB derailleur and 10-speed cassette, then to get indexed shifting
working you need a Jtek shiftmate 6, or equivalent, to change the pull
ratio. Alternatively, a 9-speed Shimano MTB rear derailleur on its own will
get index shifting working with the 10-speed road shifter. I'm using that
second combination on one of my bikes and it works perfectly.

BTW, you're supposed to use a Goatlink with a shadow type derailleur - the
Roadlink is for use with conventional type derailleur.
