... and please allow me to clarify... my preference of the 66cm Jones 2.5 riser loop bar on the 65cm Clem H is only in direct comparison to the stock 55cm cromo Bosco and Chocomoose. I have not yet tried any other bars on the Clem. The Jones is paired with a VO stem adapter and a short Dimension threadless stem (riser stem with probably 30-40mm effective reach... maybe a "50mm stem" with 25 -35 deg rise? I haven't actually measured it but the end of grips come back a little behind the headtube.
The current Chocomoose build is on a tall 73deg parallel frame with 700x33 semi-slicks. Coming off the above Clem H which was my only rider for better part of a year and swapping over to this bike I definitely felt a handling difference but have not been able to directly compare the Chocomoose on each frame with several months to a year since using the Choco on the Clem. Where the Chocomoosed 73deg frame felt a little quicker steering and maybe more reactive than I may usually prefer for an upright rider on the pavement these same handling characteristics became somewhat unnoticeable or maybe even preferred once I hit the mixed conditions of offroad/Multiuse paths and trail sections. On yesterday's ride I covered a variety of terrain and handled most underbiking with relative ease. It was 38deg around midday with some wet/muddy areas thawing in the sun from the recent deep freeze but I hit a patch of a low wooded area that is usually wet and sloppy in normal conditions and had to hike-a-bike across the still frozen and heavily rutted and pock-marked ground (from a mix of mtb tire tracks and horse hooves on multipurpose trails) that otherwise exceeded the limits of my 700x33mm wheels. As noted before, I did miss the ability to just slide my hands fore/aft along the grips as I'd done with the moustache bar with non-aero levers on this same bike. It's this thinking that has me wondering whether an inverse brake levered Chocomoose may offer a little more of what I liked about the moustache bar in a slightly wider/stiffer package. With the mtb levers and more traditional flat bar grips on the Choco you do have two or three distinct hand placement areas but I think I'd like them even more if I could find some of those in-between grips for seamless adjustments while singlespeeding on varied terrain and mixed conditions.
