That derailleur was made for 1980s mountain bikes. The outer chainring
would have been 48 teeth. And since the wheels were 26" 559, the hubs would
be closer to the ground. Plus the bottom bracket would have been higher
than on an Atlantis. So the chain stays would have been closer to
horizontal. Add it all up and you're now rather limited in your choices for
front derailleurs.

Modern mountain bike triple FDs are designed for a 12 tooth difference
between the outer and middle chainrings. So you're trying to do something
that might not be possible.
