Got out briefly on the Saluki sunday--been itching to try the the new stuff I installed over the winter: new Berthoud stainless steel fenders with new VO leather mudflap and U.S. made leather bartape.
I headed down the Lansing River trail but even the finest fenders won't protect you from Spring time Red Cedar River levels! (that's the trail right behind me in this pic) http://www.flickr.com/photos/40738...@n08/4432754952/ Since no one makes leather or stainless steel pontoons, I settled for a brief meander around and south of MSU campus, totalling around twenty miles. That felt like enough with sprinkles and drizzle, gusty 20mph winds and my current (lack of) fitness level... The fenders and flap worked great on the soggy roads, the bar tape seemed fine--it's hard to judge grip or comfort in the winter gloves. I'm looking forward to trying it again once the weather improves.
