FWIW, if you really want cog security on a hub without provision for a
reverse-threaded lockring, use red Loctite. I did this with a very nice and
expensive ENO hub. Dura Ace -- so top quality -- cog. When it came time to
remove it, and being ignorant of the need for heat, I tried force: almost
broke my chain whip; then put cog in vise and used wheel as lever. Torqued
hard! Shattered cog into 3 pieces, left little wavy sections in hub threads
(still usable, though.) Even skip braking wouldn't have removed that cog!
