Way to go Joe!  An admirable build indeed.  Also very sensible.

With every road bike I have owned I was tempted to toss out the drop bar 
and do an alt bar.  That thought would come to my head during every ride! 
 Sadly it is much more involved than swapping handlebars for my Appaloosa. 
 You went ahead and did it, and have set an excellent example!

Speaking of Will's whacky, yet 100% sensible ideas, he had mentioned to me 
that the right configuration for my bike would be canti for front and 
v-brake for the back.  I'm actually quite tempted to give it a try one day.
