What's good for and industry dependents who you ask. A healthy business
navigates its ups and downs, I worry that growth phases in bicycling
attracts the corporate pirates who bet short, capitalize stock with sketchy
commercial paper and make their exit before this house of cards falls. The
rewards in their communities is unrelated to the subject matter of their
industry, except that money is good, more is better.

If a corporate maven answers the question, it might depend on the business
school they went to. Sales volume and buzz supporting surges of growth come
up. Ask a modern day Velocio and their answer may involve growth of numbers
riders who integrate bicycling into their lives and pursue the extent of
its contributions. Is a local event to reinforce the bicycling and
associated community of like minded or an opportunity to expand market
exposure of promoted products for purchase?

I agree that we are in a nice epoch of cycling. I can find parts for my
current riding equipment needs and anticipate future ones without hoarding
for when things cool down in the industry. What I get from cycling isn't
for sale at the LBS, Rivendell, Compass or PJW. I would say the same thing
about photography if I was deeply into it, newer, better cameras will
always be out there yet I could take wonderful pictures with my little
compact Rollei 35 SE. It was being where I wanted to photograph something
or taking the time to see them. Not too unlike my bike riding.
