Thanks for your thoughts / notes, Tom. My PBH is ~89.5 cm, and I’m used to riding a 57-59 cm (c-c) traditional road bike with ~7-8 cm bb drop, or even an all-rounder with 33 mm tires. Road fit I’ve now figured out — racing and sport and leisure.
Now I am riding about 90% dirt / gravel / macadam roads, where I find 700x33 or 650x38 tires to be perfectly adequate, but the 650x42 on my Ebisu or even 650x60 tires on the Riv tandem feel even better. I’d like to start riding some trails again, but my last MTB was a MB-1 that I sold nearly 20 years ago. (Well, I briefly had a XL Singular Gryphon, which in retrospect I should have run with a Jones H-bar and kept, but rarely took it on trails.) So, now I am wondering if my current bike (e.g. Ebisu) will suffice for trails (perhaps some underbiking?), or if I should treat myself to a Riv off-road model of one type or another. I end up more or less in the middle of sizes on most Riv models, but the 56 cm Hunq could be a good fit. Given the price (custom range now?..), one would want a good fit. :-) - Max “on the bubble and on the fence” in A2 -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
