Mat: Will you please share these hybrid fender ideas? I like to add fenders
to my dirt road bike during the ~2-month rainy season (starts in July; just
now ending), but full fenders don't work well for the reason you (and
Jobst) site and because of massive toe overlap with the sortof-roadish
geometry and 60 mm tires.

FWIW, I've devised a usable system involving a rear 2/3 fender (bolted at
cs bridge, ss bridge, and extending just far enough to keep gunk off the
saddle) and half front fender (stopping just above the toe overlap
position) augmented by "dash plate" bolted to bottom-of-dt bottle bosses
and running from end of half fender to just aft of bb. This works better
than the "moto" style mtb fenders, but I'l open to improvements.
