Bottle openers!! A while back we would make a set of bottle openers out of warranty/ crashed/bent fork blades. They sort of became a "shop gift" we would give to the owner of the crashed fork, or good customers.
Basically you chop off the fork blades to whatever length handle you want, then a bit of careful filing to the drop out creates the bottle opener. We would finish off the handle with left over bar wrap, some times plugging the end with cinelli plugs if they fit. I had a really nice one I did from an aluminum fork leg that I put a high polish on, then sewed leather onto the handle with leather cord lanyard for hanging. It was quite classy. I still have a carbon one someplace that I wrapped the handle with silk cording ala samurai sword hilt. Back in the day there were some bottle openers that were made from Campagnolo fork dropouts. You can still find some of those (copies generally) floating on ebay that fetch 30-40 bones. This would still leave you with the crown, but hey you would be part way there. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
