Bar end brake levers are great for bars such as both Albas and the swept back(non drop) ones . Easily activated with just a pinkie and/or the next finger. I find it more easily accessed too , I can't put it into words it'll just be apparent as you use them.
Kai, I hear that often by those that have never used them. I've gone through some brush and frankly I can't see it happening even if I tried. If you are running THAT close into really knarly stuff, you could be brought down regardless of the lever, not necessarily the lever.
