Andy, what fenders are you using on your ram with the Stampede Passes? I just picked up a Ram that is running 28's (Ruffy Tuffy) with super narrow (35mm?) hammered Honjos and Shimano sidepulls, and I definitely couldn't go any wider with the current setup, but like I'll of us I'm contemplating what a switch to centerpulls and wider fenders would let me get away with. I'd want to stick with hammered fenders though, since they just look so right on the current setup!
