I put Paul Racers on my Ram and use Stampede Pass 700 x 32 tires under fender with clearance.

I had it put right back where it was instead of monkeying with any change in clearance. The chain stay bridge is of the same clearance and works well as is. Without decals I couldn't do a true repaint so I just did a panel. I have a real fix on the way. As for going to bigger tires (removing fenders), I'd read enough about changes of handling when riding beyond 32mm tires that I stayed right there with the Stampede Passes.
