Yes, we really like the silver SRAM road group as well ... but they are becoming really hard to find. Likewise, Shimano is slowly fading to a Gray color with their comparable Ultegra 6700 series. We're snapping up the 6600 series where we can.
To answer Patrick's question, the friction shifting was the customer's request. We looked at the black SRAM bar-ends (which are indexed for the rear), but thought the more "classic" look and feel was more appropriate to the customer's liking.
