I use a Hennessy Hammock, and it is designed for a lie that is bit flatter because it is angled relative to the line between the end supports. I find that it mitigates the issue that Bill mentioned satisfactorily for me. Another trick is to put a spare shirt under your knees. Others have already mentioned the main basic element is to insulate underneath. For me, discovering the hammock completely changed my camping perspective. Beforehand, I'd always wake up sore, stiff, and couldn't wait for enough light to get off the ground. Now, I wake up comfortable, rested, and relaxed. I take in my surroundings, and take my time getting up. I camp more because I sleep MUCH better.
