Short version: It looks like there are two main players in pedal retention straps that play nice with sandals: Hold Fast or Power Grips. Input and suggestions appreciated.
Long version: While I love the Catalyst long pedals by Pedaling Innovations, I seem to destroy them (after my snow ride the other day, screaming squeel that is the pedal, bearings, I presume?). The pedals are only a few months old. So, I am going as basic as I can in a pedal, following my basic rule of go as simple as possible and learn from there. I put on my smaller VP Vice pedals and wow, I now understand the whole pedal retention thing with fixed hear. With the large spiked platform, unnecessary. But with a forefoot position on a smaller pedal, even with spikes, retention is well worth trying. I have MKS Sylvan pedals coming, in the hopes cone bearings can be easily adjusted and serviced as I beat them up. Also a pair of same but Stream narrower pedals to see if that works and increases pedal clearance in a meaningful way for me.
