Aha, by ‘brake placement’ , John W meant ‘shift lever placement’. I placed them as wide as the 31.8mm section of the Salsa Cowchipper bars would allow. I chose the Salsa Cowchipper bars because the 31.8mm sleeve is quite wide. I decided against normal bar-con placement because they are flared drops and didn’t want them sticking out.
If I find that I want to do a lot of mountain biking, I might want to switch to a clutch rear der to mitigate chain slap. If I do that, I may switch to a SRAM 10-sp Brifter on the right hand side.
