John W asked how I arrived at brake placement. 

I installed the cantilever brakes DIRECTLY onto the cantilever brake posts. šŸ˜. 
Maybe you meant something else?  Brake lever placement was an educated guess 
based on the assumption that 100% of off road downhill braking will be done 
from the drops. 

As others noted, when CX70s went out of production I took note. I stocked up 
with three sets. Now two of the three sets are on bikes and Iā€™m getting a 
little antsy about that. 

Rivendell might become one of the last bastions of rim brakes. Great drivetrain 
parts are plentiful, but brakelevers rims and brakes are getting scarce. Winter 
is coming...
