Ray,

I used them with excellent results in my Gunnar (pre-Rivendell) as it had
S&S couplers so I could travel with it. They never require an adjustments as
they are designed to always be used with the same parts, to allow easy
separation.

If you are going to be using them to swap different handlebars on the same
bike, then you'll be facing the delicate challenge of making sure that the
length of the cables on both handlebars are exactly identical, as they will
be connected to the rear section of the cables that remain on the frame.

If they are not identical, you'll be forced to make adjustments every time
you change handlebars, as the total cable length from shifter/brake to
derailers/brakes will change.

It can be done, but be prepared to go through several sets of cables before
you nail it!
