You must determine whether you want the eccentric forward or rearward (or 
if you have the option of positioning it forward or rearward) - this 
determines chain length (the rearward position can use a longer chain). I 
used it on bicycles (Sam H and Roscoe Bubbe) where I wanted more tire 
clearance, so it was rearward for me. Then you need to determine if you 
want the eccentric up or down. Again more tire clearance meant downward. 
Also the beauty of the down rearward position (or front upward) was that 
the weight of the bicycle tensioned the chain - I positioned the eccentric 
down and back, inserted into the dropout with the bike upright and let the 
bicycle down onto the ground - the weight of the bicycle rotated the 
eccentric back and down a little further, then I just tightened the bolts.
