That really is spectacular! Very glad the fixed conversion seems to be working out for you. I rode fixed exclusively for a month or two last winter and found it greatly rewarding. Just as you stated, no free miles but no wasted miles either. My riding is pretty much limited to short leisure rides and nowhere near as demanding as yours but the slower yet deliberate and continuous pace seemed very suitable for cold weather... never got overheated yet never got too cold and never stopped moving so never a wasted moment.
