I went ahead and got the since they have a 30 refund policy even if they are dirtied and damaged from use.* Winters here means 0-45F Usually upper 30's/low 40's daytime/20's nighttime from Dec-March. So maybe wool socks with sandals might do the trick. *What is the diff between merino socks and boiled wool?*
On to dress shoes: These days I am trying to get away from shoes that dig into my hallus at every step, and rub along the sides of foot. Leather always rubs/breaks over big toe/joint. Not every wide width shoe has foot friendly leather that breaks over foot in a friendly manner.
