Exactly. Notice where he lives to understand his 'winter'! I lived in the bay area for 30 years and winter was just rain, maybe fog, very very rarely below freezing. One winter in Ann Arbor, and I bow to those who ride through it. I had thirty-foot long wooden bridge over a pond with no side rails as part of my bike commute, and all I could see was braking on it (or black ice) and sliding right into the pond, so I ended up driving the mile whenever it wasn't clear.
