I'd rode my new medium without a support and found that it would start rubbing when I hit bumps after a while when loaded. I have a 62cm Appaloosa prototype and I thought I'd have plenty of room with my saddle height and big frame. Guess not.
Here's a picture of it loaded where it looks like I should be fine, but it ended up rubbing anyway after a while: https://www.instagram.com/p/BV0_t9fhmXu/?taken-by=hunqaloosa You can use a John's Irish Strap on the lower d-rings and around the saddle stays to lift it up. Although, it's kind of a bummer to take the extra step. Not a deal breaker though. Eventually, I think I'll get some sort of support for mine. Maybe a Mark's rack.
