I grew up there (Acalanes HS in Lafayette  and Berkeley grad) and it
is a beautiful area.  Great for cycling, too, not only for mountain
bikes but with growing commitments to bike lanes, bike paths, and
cycling-friendly transit.  You can easily get to Riv WHQ via BART
(bikes allowed during non-rush hours), get off the train at the Walnut
Creek station, go about two blocks northeast and cross North Main,
turn into a warren of industrial buildings just off the corner, and
you're there.  A Fifth Avenue retail location it is not, thank
goodness, else the bikes would cost a whole lot more.
