We use the 1up rack with my 62cm Saluki and my wife's 55 cm Betty. One has
metal fenders, the other plastic. She has albatross bars & a large rear
rack; I have drop bars and a front rack. Or we use it with my 62cm
Rambouilet. The rack has three great advantages. First the set up is very
flexible. You have control over where you put the wheel mounts and can
shift bikes quiet a bit to the left or right. With a little
experimentation you can find a setup that will accommodate almost any
combination of bikes, bars, rack & fenders. I have found a spot that puts
the front "clamp" hi on each bike, just below the fender and low in the
back to minimize squeeze on the fender stays, which is the only other
contact point. Second, the 1up is absolutely the fastest, easiest rack to
get bikes on & off. Third it is also the fastest rack to get on & off a
car. Literally a minute. We have the single carrier, with the second bike
attachment. Since the single bikes are often used alone, I tend to leave
one rack on the car, which folds up quickly and well below the top of the
bumper, and then put the second carrier on as needed. Over the years I
have ownedmany racks - Thule, Yakima & Saris, roof racks, trunk racks &
hitch racks. 1Up is far and away the best. You can see pictures of my set
up here.
