At the price of a Sam, you are at 1/2 (or less) of what snappier dressed
Italian label carbon bikes have paid. A Trek Madone can set you back 6K and it
is as common as a McBurger.  The comments you are likely to hear are;

"Nice bike!"
"How old is that bike?"
"How heavy is that bike?"
"That bike looks really comfortable. Except for that saddle."

Our local club's former prez (who rides a Litespeed Tachyon) has sailed past
and told me he thinks my Ram is the best looking bike he's ever seen. Ram and
Sam share some philosophy, don't you think? He sails past because of his
engine, not because of his bike, btw. We could swap bikes with the same result.

It's a bike. Ride it everywhere. It's not a bling bike. It's a reasonably
priced well made bike....

Subject: [RBW] Will riding a Rivendell make me self-conscious or overly
worrisome?

I was wondering if this owner's group could let me know if they've ever
felt uncomfortable riding an "expensive" bike or one as beautiful as
the Sam Hillborne. Is it the same as sporting around in a Porsche...... Do
those riding
Rivendell's get approached often by people looking to appreciate their
bike? And is this a positive experience? Do you ever feel self-
conscious about riding such a flash bike?
