In some cases, if tires are stiff or if the rim profile is skinny and deep, it can be quite difficult to keep the valve stem from pushing in toward the rim, until you get a few psi built up to resist. Presta are nice because the stem is nutted in place. For every other (practical) purpose, i think schrader is superior.
