A big picture book of 'dells. Color. Glossy pages. Heavy. Huge. Whole chapters for every model ever made, by year, with photo spreads and special sections for wheelset conversions in either direction. Sample builds of every model. Massively relic-ed models included. Spencer's bike would have to come down off the wall.
Would have to be written by a person outside of Riv-culture to avoid even the slightest hint of fawning obseqeousness. That would be most distasteful. Pics submitted by end users would be the best way to chronicle the varied uses and functionality of Rivendell bikes in the wild. Special section for customs. Special sections for examples of the full spectrum of uses of models, from commuting librarians to pro racers to world travelers to child toters. No Riv culture. Too alienating. That can go in another book. Just a Rivendell bike book. It can be done. Heine did a good job with his book, keeping mostly to technical talk about the bikes and or uses. He mentioned big players but kept it professional. I think it was that golden age of handbuilt bikes book or something like that I saw. It's in my local library. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
