Yesterday when I was starting my ride I was thinking about the goals
for 2010 thread and my first thought was that I was disappointed in my
lack of miles in 2009 and wanted to do more in 2010. Then I paused
and started thinking about what I DID do in 2009?

-Rode, and finished, my first populaire (100km) but well outside the
time limit
-built my first ever steel bike and "rivenized" it
-Did my first S240 and had a blast
-built a bike for my wife for her 40th and it put a smile her face,
mostly because of the basket
-helped my six yo kick her training wheel habit (her request to remove
them) and watched her solo for the first time
-Adopted a "ride to enjoy" rather than "go as fast as you can" style
of riding
-I am no longer a "gravel virgin", really enjoyed riding a rail trail
on my new steel steed

Anyway I bring this up because I wondered if other folks dismissed
their 2009 accomplishments becasue they didn't hit some "key"
measure. I was amazed at how much I had done when I started thinking
more about what got accomplished and less about how many miles I rode.

Miles of smiles
