Hey Edwin. I'm very interested in the new Snoqualamie Pass Compass tires too. I have a long all pavement ride that I am doing in October with my Appaloosa. I may get a pair of the standard casing version as my event tire.
I have been on the Schwalbe Thunderburts since I got my Appaloosa in March. The Liteskin 2.10 (54mm) version. Very nice, light tires. I don't use fenders on my Appaloosa and I like to get the biggest tires I can. I bought 4 from Germany at $34 and change each. A really incredible deal! My mixed terrain rides have maybe a little too much pavement for these tires though. It's not that they feel slow on pavement, they feel fast, but they do tend to wear fast on pavement. And once those tiny knobs in the center of the tread are gone, the flats come. I think I might try the 55mm Big Bens that Riv sells as my next general use tire on the Joe. I realize they are almost twice as heavy as the T-Burts, but I had a pair of the 650bx50mm BBs on a bike I had set up last year and really liked them. They are fast and tough. The extra weight gives what I like to call a pendulum effect where I only feel the weight slowing me down at low speed. Once up and running they just fly along. Hope this ads to the tire fire.
