I understand the advantages of wool over cotton, but generally eool is quite expensive, especially if you are talking about cycling specific items. Cotton on the other hand is cheap and yes it can become wet & heavy, but it takes abuse well. I really love that feeling of pulling on a cotton hoody for the first time in the Fall. I have a handful of wool sweaters, nothing fancy; quite the opposite really. I buy'em on sale late winter, I'll use them while working in the yard or as a middle layer while cycling.
