Yes, Bruce the Ram is awesome, and I see the Roadeo as finally being the bike to come along and take its place, but if one already has a Ram, he/she might be all set. That red 63 cm Roadeo at Rivendell was tempting me a bit, but I am 100% over it once I realized that in this size, my Ram and that Roadeo frame are only negligiby different in weight. If I want a Rodeo-style clubster in this size, I can do it; it's just a matter of hanging different parts on the Ram. If I were to get that Roadeo frame, I'd probably put a Sugino triple crank, an 11-34 in the rear and Jack Brown tires - uh, it's close to the bike I already have, but with these differences:
-the stem would be threadless -a 43.5 cm chainstay instead of a 44.5 cm -BB would be 4 mm higher -43.5 mm fork rake instead of 42.5 mm -One fewer mount for water bottles!
But I'm glad that Rivendell complemented its line-up by re-introducing a road bike similar to the Rambouillet but giving it some slightly racier tendencies. Is it fair to say that the sprectrum used to be Ram-Saluki-Atlantis, but now it has widened a bit to Roadeo-AHH-Bombadil with the center point being pretty much the same? Jim W.
