Rene,

I am very in tune with your dilemma. I have been able to get my
Bombadil off road on some familiar trails. And now I am fearing I have
chosen the wrong size, or frame all together. I have never had any
issues with stand over clearance in the past, but on 2 of my 3
singletrack rides on the Bombadil, I made contact with the top tube.
Originally, I chalked it up to the learning curve of riding a new bike/
geometry/wheel size off road for the first few times. Now I am not so
sure. On the bike path and roads, it performs fantastic and much like
my Bleriot, but I am not doing so well in the rough stuff. I feel very
top heavy and off balance which has put me in the emergency exit mode
a couple times. With a PBH of 84.5 My Bleriot is a 55 and took the Riv
recommendation of the 52 Bombadil. I am now lamenting I should have
maybe gone with the 53 Atlantis to stick with the 26" wheel and gain a
couple cm clearance. Bit too late now I guess. I think if I were using
the Bombadil as all-purpose, the size is right. But I wanted it for
off road mountain biking. Sure would be nice to be able to go directly
to Rivendell to fit them them first.

Just some observations. I think the usage is a big factor. Please give
us the update info, and good luck!!

Brad
