I was going to suggest this too. My clipless setup got a lot more comfortable a couple of years ago when i move the cleats back, almost to the back of the slot. With the cleat under the ball of my foot, all the pressure went there and i'd get tired feet, and more stress on my calves too. Having it further back disperses the pressure a lot.
