I went simpler on the lights in my Rivs. SON 28 hubs with Edelux (now
upgraded to Edelux II models on Atlantis and Betty). Rear fender battery
lights to avoid the cables. German battery taillights with standlght
feature and motion/ambient light sensor so they turn on/off automatically.
Batteries last a very long time. For the occasional need to charge the
iPhone or Garmin, I just carry a large Mophie battery. Since you won't be
touring in remote areas, this should work for you as well.

On the custom I went all out. SON SL hub so no external connectors are
needed and the cable goes inside the fork. Rear dynamo light on the seat
tube so no cables under the fender either. If I choose to reinforce, then
I'll go with my German rear fender light as described above.

I'm also having a lot of fun with Garmin's rear radar/light, which goes on
the seatpost. Not planning on carrying a saddlebag.

No lights on the Homer for now, but have a spare SON front wheel from the
Hunqapillar that I can use. Fender battery light in that case.
