Jonathan, IMO the porteur rack is far too versatile a rack to confine to only one method of use. Keep a large basket with some mini bungees for grocery runs or carrying a pot of food to a potluck, ride with the rack bare for strapping a tent and sleeping bag on a camping bag, or for those chance days when you might find a small Weber grill on the road or need to pick up a case of beer after a ride. A waterproof rack bag is essential for rainy days or when you have a number of errands to run and don't want to leave things in a basket.
