Are the "ghost shifts under pressure and weird noises" happening with the 
derailleur in the compromised position shown above? These symptoms suddenly 
enter here and it is not clear to me what setup this is happening on. Or is 
this what you anticipate might happen after putting an Altus on the Trek? 
Or did I just miss something entirely?
