I think the only real advantage to the clear would be it being cheap & at least if it's rusting you can see it. Painted, but especially powder coated frames can be rusting underneath, with a painted frame it will show quickly. I've had powder coated frames that look good, but the coating was not adhered to the metal and would come off in big chunks. I like the raw look, but generally paint looks better, if I got titanium I would go paintless.
