I've thinking of switching Janesville with Evansville because it's smaller,
but it'll be somewhere near there. the Fort Atkinson bit is really based on
the fact that as a youth I saw Bill Camplin play a billion times in local
bars and other venues and he and his spouse own a place there. I'm hoping
he's playing the night I go through (and I'm going to email to see if he's
even in town) and if so, may invite my HS buddies out for a evening of it.

I'm fine with gravel - having just done GAP/C&O last summer. The GAP was
really well maintained but when we went the C&O was mostly mud and gravel.
We made good time in spite of it so I don't really have concerns riding my
Friday (with 20" Big Apples at the moment).

Planning these things is really a big part of the fun as far as I'm
concerned.

My current plan is to stay in motels along the way, after a week of camping
in Iowa it'll be nice and because I can' rent my tent and such for RAGBRAI
I won't have to carry as much gear. I'll actually be shipping the suitcase
my Friday flies in along with clothes for the reunion from the RAGBRAI
start point to Milwaukee and taking as little as possible with me along the
way. After two previous RAGBRAIS I pretty much know what I need to take and
what I never actually used. I did the GAP/C&O with only two front bags on
my Friday and still had too much stuff, so light is good.

While I realize my Friday has nothing to do with Riv, it has been to RBW
Headquarters twice. :-)

Aloha!
