I'd love to see a picture of your huge old Riv. I'll have to look at my old Readers to try to answer your question.
I'm thinking geometry charts that would show a Road model going to 68 cm. It doesn't sound familiar, at least in print. The early Readers definitely had Road model geometry charts that maxed out nowhere near 68 cm. However, you might want to try the Wayback Machine to see the old Riv website to see if they had additional geometry charts. I do remember the old Riv website had a nice owners' gallery with pictures of bikes built with Riv frames. I remember one very large frame (68 cm or greater) had a reinforcing diagatube, and this was like the late 90's.
If yours wasn't custom, I'm sure it's still pretty dang rare.

Subject: [RBW] What is my Rivendell really? Crisis of identity?I've always assumed my bike was a custom just because it said Rivendell on the downtube. But now after many years and many pictures of others' older Rivendells I'm thinking maybe it's a Road? My Riv has a 68cm C-C ST and a 64 C-C TT. Did they once make a stock Road in that size? It also has a Joe Starck serial coding on the bottom bracket.--As for the color, it looks exactly like these, which is kind of what prompted the thread, me happening across the latest pics in the Modern portion of this site:--------------------------------------------------------------------signature goes here
